Hockey isn’t just a sport in the country of Canada, it becomes a way of life after a number of months. All of your friends play the game & all of your memories surround Hockey, it brings back good memories that can help someone in a time or turmoil. In the case of the Ottawa Senators they helped the entire city of Ottawa heal in their time of turmoil. Recently Nathan Cirillo passed away after he was shot to death by an Islamic Extremist.
This Islamic Extremist went to the National War Memorial in Ottawa and gunned down Corporal Nathan Cirillo. This Islamic Extremist then went into the Parliament Building looking for a high class official to murder as well. Luckily this terrorist was shot down before he could harm anyone else in the process. This is a major shock to the entire country of Canada as there has never been a real act of terror on their soil.
The Ottawa Senators were able to make everyone forget about what happened for a couple of hours as they played against the New Jersey Devils at the Canadian Tire Centre. Luckily the Senators were able to win the game, heightening everyone’s moods in the process. This shows that Hockey isn’t just a sport in Canada but it’s something that resembles happiness in the country. The Ottawa Senators now stand as not only professional hockey players but they also stand as heroes for a city that was feeling lost.
